Get Outta My Head

I walked straight out of your eyes and slid down your nose and I suppose that was when I realized that I had climbed too far but, I am like a cat: When forced to jump in the face of defeat, I always land on my feet. You saw the reflection of my Exit, the cold shadow on your face. You thought, “If I scream now, I can fix it,” but, I was already gone. Lived in you, laughed in you, breathed and relieved to be safe in you. I’ve never lived in a shell with such sweet smell before, the belly of a pumpkin, bright orange warmth but still the piemaker called. He threatened to slice and divide and you disrespect Thanksgiving. You give no thanks for living with me. You were smashing pumpkins with your steel toes. I know you were scared and that’s why you let me go. I tried and tried to make you see what I said. I pushed and pushed on your pupils til they bled though I knew that wouldn’t make you see anyway when you just won’t, you just won’t, you just WON’T. And now, I’m safe and warm in my own space, made warm by colour not smother. Now, I am safe and warm in my own space now that you made me walk off of your face. You said: “Get outta my Head! Get outta my Eyes! Get outta my Head! Get outta my Face! Get outta my Head! Get outta my Eyes! Get outta my Head!” So I did.
