Lost In Nanaimo

Lost In Nanaimo! This is the city that Engineers enter to demonstrate just how not to build a city centre This is the city used as a symbol of haste. At least, that’s what Eugene said! (straight-faced) I did not believe him right away. I said: “I am from Toronto, I’ve seen urban planning, urban decay.” I did not believe him right away until later when we were so Lost In Nanaimo! Eugene was a white-haired crazy man, jaw-harp-singing soul, one-man band. Freaky white dreads stickin’ out his head and music in his eyeballs. They were winkin’ and twinklin’ and it was leakin’ into his guitar pickin’. I was fallin’ into his guitar. Crazy white-haired man! Jaw-harp, dreads stickin’ out his head, one-man band! And then you ask me why I did not believe him right away!until later when we were so late, oh yeah, we were so Lost In Nanaimo! This is the city that Engineers enter to demonstrate just how not to build a city centre. This is the city that Engineers visit to ask the question: exactly how is it that such a lovely city could be so poorly designed? Let’s play the Nanaimo Game: How many lost travellers can you find? It’s “no-mind-oh,” I’m on ‘Island Time.’! Lost in Nanaimo.
