Bargaining

The way it is these days, women shiver when they’re out of the streetlights’ pool of safety, no bus fare, had to work late that night. Can you imagine always being afraid? And the newspapers say, “now you can relax, the slime balls’ been caught and crime’s behind bars.” But it’s not. That’s so wrong. This sickness makes them famous and then it catches on. Can you imagine Always being afraid? There’s just no excuse for the press glorifying. There’s just no excuse for the lawyers denying they know the truth. They are bargaining over the dead. They are Bargaining over the Dead. The guilty have cancelled lifetimes and created lifetimes of fear but, they’re out in 3 years for “good behaviour.” Who cares how they act when they’re alone, protected, solitarily confined?! Can you imagine always being afraid? Another woman died, yes, I heard. So I glare in every man’s eyes, suspecting, expecting. Don’t you look at me that way, don’t even try! Please. Because I know, I know that it could have been been me. Can you imagine feeling at your safest when you are always afraid? … There’s just no excuse for the lawyers nullifying death … How could anyone kill another human? The way it is these days, women shiver when they’re out of the streetlights’ pool of safety, no bus fare, had to work late that night.
